537 Billion Lira Investment in The Infrastructure of Transportation

Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Mehmet Cahit Turhan said that an investment 537 billion liras has been made in the infrastructure of transportation and communications so far.

Turhan said that 100 billion liras of this investment were realized in cooperation with the public-private sector and they were in the effort to complete 3,510 projects of different extents.

Reminding the realization of the mega projects such as Marmaray, high-speed train lines, and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway, Turhan announced that the number of passengers, which has been transported on high-speed train lines, the length of which reaches to 1,213 km, was approaching to 45 million.

Minister Turhan, “Our electric and signalized lines movement to reduce transportation costs and to further strengthen the nature of being an environmentalist transportation type continues. We have extended the length of our electric lines to 5,467 kilometers and the length of the signalized lines to 5,746 kilometers. The length of the signalized lines on our railways, the length of which is over 12,000 kilometers, has reached 5,746 kilometers, especially in the last 9 years. 746 trains with the signalization system and 493 trains with switchmen are realizing transportation services daily in our railways.”

Mehmet Cahit Turhan, who stated that they have realized the mobilization of domestic and national production in the railways, used the following expressions: “We have commenced the production of railway vehicles with a national design for the first time. We attach special importance to the logistics centers which are the connection points in freight transportation. We have put 11 of 21 logistics centers, planned for regional development, into service.”
