Presenting films among the best examples of the Turkish and world cinema as accessible to visually and hearing impaired film lovers every year, Accessible Film Festival is expecting movie enthusiasts with 38 films and many events this year.
The Festival to be held for the 6th time this year will host the movie fans at Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Sinema Salonu (SineBu) in İstanbul between October 8 and 10, at Taşbaşı Kültür ve Sanat Merkezi (Kırmızı Salon) in Eskişehir between October 12 and 14, and at Çankaya Belediyesi Çağdaş Sanatlar Merkezi and Goethe-Institut in Ankara between October 17 and 21.
38 films meet with audiences as accessible
38 films among the outstanding examples of the Turkish and world cinema will be viewed by the audiences within the following categories: “Competition without Barriers”, “Turkish Cinema”, “From World”, “Films without Barriers”, “The Long & Short of It”, “For Children”, “From History of Cinema”, “Autism Friendly Screening” and “Zebra”.
All screenings in the Festival will be presented with audio-description for those who are visually impaired, and sign language and detailed subtitles for those who are hearing impaired. The accessibility applications of the festival films are created by Sesli Betimleme Derneği. The Q&A sessions with the film crews and workshops following the screenings of the Accessible Film Festival, will be translated into sign language. The Award Ceremony will be also translated into sign language besides audio-description; thus, barriers or no barriers, all movie enthusiasts will be able to enjoy the Festival together.
