A “PAPER FRIENDLY” CONGRESS IN İSTANBUL

THE 26TH UNIVERSAL POSTAL CONGRESS WAS HELD AS THE FIRST “PAPER FRIENDLY” CONGRESS. MOST OF THE DOCUMENTS WERE SENT TO THE DELEGATES IN ELECTRONIC FORMAT.

The 26th Universal Postal Congress, hosted by the Post and Telegraph Organization Corporate (PTT AŞ), was held within the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications with the participation of Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım in İstanbul.

Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım who spoke at the opening of the congress stated: “The route of the PTT has been changed from now on. The PTT has begun to expand its service network with additional types of services rapidly. When we consider where we are today, the PTT has over 4 thousand and 500 service points.” Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs, and Communications Ahmet Arslan who also spoke at the congress stated that they will continue to work hard in order to make Turkey’s future much better than it is today.

2 thousand delegates participated
About 2 thousand delegates from 192 UPU (Universal Postal Union) member countries came to İstanbul for the 26th Universal Postal Congress. The “Universal Postal Strategy” that would shape the operations of the UPU between the years of 2017-2020 was determined at the congress. The 26th Universal Postal Congress was held as the first “paper friendly” congress. Most of the documents were sent to the delegates in electronic format.
