THE MANSION OF AHMET TEVFIK PASHA, KNOWN AS THE LAST GRAND VIZIER OF OTTOMAN PERIOD, HAS BEEN OPENED AS A HOTEL PARK BOSPHORUS AFTER THE CONSTRUCTION CAPTIVITY THAT HAS LASTED FOR 24 YEARS.
Having one of the most beautiful views of the world, Bosphorus draws great interest of the domestic or foreign tourism investors every term. In recent years, A-plus hotel chains such as Mandarin, Shangri La, Viceroy, Raffless have been situated in Bosphorus one by one. The mansion of Ahmet Tevfik Pasha has also been assertively an A-plus hotel in Bosphorus that provides service by the name of Park Bosphorus.
The structure that had been converted from a mansion to a hotel 82 years ago from now, serviced as a hotel until the fire which broke out in 1979. Twenty four years ago, the structure was begun to be built in order to convert back to the hotel. However, the structure caused reactions due to its being remarkably wide and high. For this reason, the building’s permit was revoked a few times. Within this 24-year-period, the structure which passed into other owners three times, at last has begun to be active in the past few months as Hotel Park Bosphorus with the 250 million dollars investment by CVK Holding.
HAS A BULLET-PROOF ROOM
The hotel, situated in one of the most beautiful locations of Bosphorus, has one of the biggest view terrace of Istanbul even of Europe with 4500m2-sized terrace. In the hotel that draws attention with its central location as well, the apartment suites are available. Being independent from the hotel building, these apartment suites positioned on the front have been designed with different sizes like 1+1, 2+1, 3+1 and 4+1 for foreign managers and consuls.
Also the presidential suite with 512 m2, has been designed as a bullet-proof room. Its glass weight is about 360 tons. With its 512 m2 size, the taps of the biggest suite of Istanbul are plated with 22 carat gold. The hotel that is in service with its 600 rooms and a thousand beds, has already reached 80 percent of occupancy rate. While the room’s sizes vary from 30 to 150 square meters, the room prices start with 400 Euros.
2. ABDULHAMID GAVE ITS TITLE DEED
Sultan Abdulhamid the 2nd presented the mansion’s title deed to Tevfik Pasha. In February of 1907, the wedding of the son of Tevfik Pasha was held in this mansion. This wedding was recorded down in history known as the first modern wedding. But the building burnt to ashes in a fire that occurred in 1911.
Like Pera Palace, Park Hotel achieved to be one of the favorite places of Ataturk and his friends. It has also been mentioned that Edward the 9th often came to Park Hotel as well. It is also known that in the course of the period of his Presidency, Adnan Menderes liked the Park Hotel and when he came to Istanbul, he stayed in the specially-reserved room for himself.
