Conducted under the auspices of the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure with the target of accessible within the scope of “Accessibility Project of Passenger Transport Services in Turkey”, “Orange Desk” program has begun serving at 13 stations and terminals since December 2, 2019; it was appreciated with great satisfaction by the citizens.
With the “Orange Desk” program, which has served 2 thousand 513 passengers so far, passengers with disabilities and in need of assistance are assisted in getting on and off the train. It is enough for citizens who want to benefit from the “Orange Desk” service point to state their service requests while purchasing a ticket online or from agencies or call centers.
It is planned to expand the service provided in stations, and terminals in Ankara, Eryaman Terminal, Eskişehir, Konya, Pendik, Söğütlüçeşme, Halkalı, İzmit, Polatlı, Bozüyük, Bilecik, Arifiye, and Gebze. In the Orange Desk program, the relevant personnel will accompany the passenger from the entrance of the terminal to the seat on the train. The passenger, who states that he/she needs help, is greeted by the “Orange Desk” service personnel at the station he/she arrives and accompanied to the exit of the station.
As it is known, in accordance with the principle of “Our Disabled Citizens Travel for Free”, which is included in the social policy practices of our state; TCDD Tasimacilik provided free transportation to 1 million 200 thousand disabled passengers in YHT, mainline and conventional trains in 2019. With the “Orange Desk” program, an important step was taken for accessible rail transportation.
