JOURNEY TO THE SECRET WORLD OF STONES

REFLECTING THE ENERGY OF THE HEALING STONES IN HIS SPECIAL NECKLACE, RING, BRACELET, AND SCULPTURE DESIGNS, TİMUÇİN ÇAKALOZ OFFERS A SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE TO HIS TARGETED MASS.

Timuçin Çakaloz dealt with ceramic for a while after completing his degree at the Mimar Sinan University Fine Arts Faculty and then decided to dedicate all of his time to sculpting. Although, Çakaloz who works in this field for 25 years began to his career working with large scaled stones such as granite and marble, he has been designing different objects that reflect the features of both gemstones and healing stones. Diamonds, rubies, emeralds, malachite, lapis lazuli, topaz, turquoise, amethyst, and labradorite are among them. Timuçin Çakaloz who has two workshops in Moda and Silivri has his special designs meet with the targeted mass on etsy.com. He expresses that he designs accessories such as necklaces, bracelets, and rings using the healing stones that offers peace, frees the individual, and heals different type of diseases as well as focusing on large scaled sculpting projects: “Different sculpting symposiums are held in and out of country at certain times. I participate in those events with my large sculptural works. I have four large sculptures in Egypt. I also have 4 or 5 meters tall sculptures in Muğla, İstanbul, and the Marmara Island. I try to use the healing factor in almost all of my works.”

Crystals have different characteristics
Timuçin Çakaloz tells us the story of how he began to work with gemstones and healing stones: “Crystals have different characteristics. The use of some stones for healing purposes since the old ages draws attention. I transform their effects into different forms. An artist is already a healer of the society. I wanted to do something different, so I started working with the healing stones after working with gemstones. I am making designs with the tendency to transfer the healing effects of the stones to a normal aspect of perception. I use strong animal motives such as wolf, and bear. Snakestone is used especially for pain. Amber is good for throat diseases. Turquoise protects against evil eye. If this stone is worn somewhere visible, it draws the negative energy of the person who is looking at you. Sometimes, those stones get broken or change their color. This way they complete their job of protection. There is also information about this stone’s effect to prevent breaking of bones. The American Indians have the same kind of belief. They also believe in that bloodstone protects against evil eye. Because of the stones at the workshop, this place has a healing energy. I do not ever remove my necklace with wolf pattern that I had made from rubies. It gives me power.”

Getting ready for a new exhibition
When we were talking to Timuçin Çakaloz, we have received very useful information. Expressing that garnet protects individuals against negative energies, Timuçin Çakaloz says, “Tutankhamen’s necklace was lapis lazuli and also his burial chamber was covered with lapis lazuli that was brought from Afghanistan. This stone consists of some pyrite pieces. Those pieces symbolize the Milky Way. It is like the map of galaxy. The belief that lapis lazuli enables the spirit to go to the other side or it plays the role of a gate opening to the other side draws attention. It is the mind chakra stone. Larimar comes from the Dominican Republic. Another name for this stone is Atlantis. It has been suggested that the rocks in Atlantis were Larimar. It is the hardest stone after diamond and ruby. It is so hard to engrave. It is the root chakra stone. It is an energy stone. It enables a balanced use of energy.” Çakaloz who mentions that he is getting ready for a different exhibition in İstanbul or Ankara in 2015 continues: “I am going to design about 10-15 sculptures that are about 4-5 meters tall out of stones with different characteristics such as lapis lazuli or larimar. A film is going to accompany this exhibition. The arranging of the exhibit is going to be same as our chakras order. Root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, and crown chakras…”
