Following Ankara-Eskişehir, Ankara-Konya, Konya-Eskişehir, and Ankara-İstanbul lines, Konya-İstanbul High Speed Train line has put into service with a ceremony held at the Konya Terminal with the participations of our President of the Republic Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and our Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu.

The President of the Republic Erdoğan who addressed a speech during the ceremony said, “We connect the ancient capital city of Anatolian Seljuk Empire, Konya to the ancient capital city of the Ottoman Empire, İstanbul via High Speed Trains; therefore, materializing the reunion of the two ancient capitals.” Emphasizing the union of the capital of the Republic, Ankara and the capital of the Turkish world, Eskişehir in 2009, the President of the Republic also talked about materializing the reunions of the Republic and Seljukian, and Hacı Bayram Veli and Mevlana in 2011.

Turkey becomes interconnected
The Prime Minister Davutoğlu who also addressed a speech during the ceremony mentioned that the adventure of railways had begun first between İzmir and Aydın in 1856 and followed by Hijaz and Baghdad railways during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamit. Davutoğlu talked about the importance given to the railways during the first years of our Republic, and said that Turkey’s all geographical regions have been interconnected through 1895 kilometers of rail lines that have been constructed since 2002.

Konya-İstanbul 4 hours 15 minutes
Pointing the travel time between Konya and İstanbul via the existing conventional railways being 13 hours, the Minister of Transportation, Maritime, and Communication Lütfi Elvan stated that it is going to be reduced to 4 hours and 15 minutes in his speech. Elvan noted that the rail line investments worth of 8.5 billion lira in 2015 and 10 billion lira in 2016 are going to be materialized.

YHTs that are going to make 2 departing and 2 arriving trips daily are going to depart from Konya at 6.10 am and 6.35 pm. YHTs that are going to depart from İstanbul (Pendik) at 7.10 am and 6.30 pm are going to serve on the İzmit, Arifiye, Bozüyük, Eskişehir and Konya route.

Thirty-six daily YHT trips are going to be done being 10 trips between Ankara-İstanbul-Ankara, 4 trips Konya-İstanbul-Konya, 14 trips Ankara-Konya-Ankara, 8 trips Ankara-Eskişehir-Ankara.

The passengers who purchase their tickets in advance are going to be able to travel with the prices starting from 42.50TL on YHTs that reduce the travel time between Konya and İstanbul to 4 hours and 15 minutes.

A regular economy-class-ticket price is going to be 85TL and a regular business-class-ticket price is going to be 119TL. Youth, educators, members of the TMF, people between the ages 60-64, members of the press, and round trip passengers are going to receive a 20 percent discount. Children between the ages 7-12, and senior citizens who are over 65 are going to receive a 50 percent discount having the opportunity of a comfortable, safe, economic, and environment friendly travel.

Along with the start of Konya-İstanbul trips, the YHT passengers are going to meet “PLUS” service that has been offered during the Ankara-İstanbul-Ankara YHT trips. The business and economy class passengers will have the opportunity to have breakfast service during morning trips and dinner service during evening trips for a fee of 15TL.
