NATIONAL FREIGHT WAGON WAS INTRODUCED

MINISTER ARSLAN: “OUR GOAL IS TO COMMENCE MASS PRODUCTION OF THE WAGON THAT WAS PRODUCED AS A PROTOTYPE SHORTLY AND HOPEFULLY TURN TOWARDS EXPORTATION FROM THAT POINT FORWARD.”

The introduction of the “New Generation National Freight Wagon” produced by Turkish Railway Machinery Industry Inc. (TÜDEMSAŞ) was carried out in Sivas. Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs, and Communications Ahmet Arslan, who took part in the opening ceremony, explained the advantages of the national freight wagon.

Minister Arslan, who talked about the national freight wagon’s capacity that yields to over 4 tones more freight transport compared to the equivalent wagons in Europe, explained that this feature will give the operator a high advantage. Arslan shared the following information about the characteristics of the wagon: “The ability to carry a container, which is long enough to be carried by two wagons, in a single wagon with a length of 29.5 meters is very important; another important feature is its weight, which is about 9.5 tons lighter than similar wagons. This means that it is 26 percent lighter. In addition, 15 percent more freight or low coast due to the lightness of the tare. The cost of transporting cargo has been reduced by 15 percent thanks to the 3 H type bogies and compact braking system produced for the first time in our country. Another advantage of the operation of these freight cars is the reduced noise level during the transport. The production cost of a single new generation freight car, which can serve as two wagons, is 15 percent lower, which also means that the cost of long-term maintenance is also low. Our goal is to commence mass production of the wagon that was produced as a prototype shortly and hopefully turn towards exportation from that point forward.”
