when someone mentions luxury cars, the first market that comes to mind: America. The Los Angeles Auto Show that took place in America became the stage for the show of strength especially for the Italian and German producers. In the City of Angels where 20 models were introduced to the world the prominent models were the Alfa Romeo’s first SUV the Stelvio, Jaguar’s electric SUV the i-Pace, the Volkswagen Atlas and the Jeep Compass. These luxury models, which will be sold first in the US, will also show up in European countries with smaller volume engines.
A SPECIAL MODEL FOR THE USA FROM VW
Being produced for the American markets, the target of Atlas, the 7-seater big brother of the VW Tiguan, is American consumers. The Atlas SUV will also earn the title of being the largest vehicle produced by VW in its factory located in America. With its 5,037 mm length, 1,979 mm width and 1,707 mm height, the Atlas is a candidate to attain the liking of the American consumers. At first, the vehicle will be sold in American markets, and then it is expected to be sold in European countries and in Russia.
THE FIERY ITALIAN SUV
The Stelvio, which is the first model the Italian producer Alfa Romeo has set foot into the SUV class with, first appeared in Los Angeles. The new model will also be produced and developed in its own country like the Italian brand Giulia. The Fiery SUV, which will be competing with the Porsche Macan and the Jaguar F-Pace, will use a 2.0-lt 276 HP and for its most powerful version a 2.9-lt double turbo charged 503 HP V6 engine. The vehicle, which will also feature 8-speed automatic transmission, will have 2.2-lt diesel and 2.0-lt gasoline engines for the European markets.
THE COMPASS ATTACK FROM JEEP
Jeep’s new model Compass was officially displayed in front of spectators in Los Angeles. The Compass, which is between a Renegade and a Cherokee, represents the combination of the traditional Jeep design and today’s modern technology. The new Compass, which was developed on the brand’s small segment SUV representative the Renegade’s platform, reflects the new generation face of Jeep with its design lines. While its interior design lines resemble the Grand Cherokee more than the Renegade, the size of the touch-screen, which enables access to the vehicle’s multi-media system, has been specified as 8.4 inches.
ONLY ELECTRICITY IS ENOUGH
Jaguar has left its mark on the Los Angeles show with a quite radical automobile for itself. The SUV i-Pace, which has a completely electrical concept, is not just an F-Pace with an electric engine. The automobile that differentiates from its conventional brother in terms of technology and design gets its power from its front and rear axles that are powered by two engines. These two engines generate 395 HP and are expected to have a maximum range of approximately 500 kilometers with its 90kWh lithium batteries.
300 UNITS WILL BE PRODUCED
Mercedes introduced one of the most luxurious models in its product range, the Maybach S650 for the first time. Only 300 of the special automobile, which will be one of the most luxurious convertible models on the roads, will be produced. The luxury model, which has a 630 HP V12 Turbo engine, will also have a performance that will make super sports cars jealous.
JAPANESE STYLE IN THE OFF-ROAD
The Mazda, which is trying to enter the class where models like the Nissan Qashqai and Volkswagen Tiguan clash in Europe, will try to reach this goal with its second generation CX-5. The CX-5 that was featured in the show became a vehicle, which gained attention with its simple lines.
