THE RISING AUTOMOBILE MARKET FOLLOWING THE NEW YEAR WILL REACH TO A SALES FIGURE OF ONE MILLION BY MEANS OF THE NEW MODELS PRESENTED TO THE MARKET ONE AFTER ANOTHER.
The Turkish automobile market that has maintained its rise since the first months of the year is expected to reach to a record sales figure of one million at the end of this year. Automobile and light commercial vehicle market sales is increased by 57 per cent in the first quarter of the year as sedan automobile market sales is increased by 49 per cent, and light commercial vehicle market sales by 85.5 per cent. The sales figures came close to 200 thousand in the first quarter. If the acceleration is maintained by the end of this year, the sales figure is expected to reach to 1 million in total. The new models that are presented to the market one after another affect this rise just as much as the sales campaigns that are started by the companies do. Following the biggest meeting of the sector, the Auto Show that was held in İstanbul last month, the new models are going to begin to show their faces in the market. Among the new models of the different classes that are going to be presented to the market, flamboyant and prestigious models are going to try to draw attention as much as small cars with suitable prices would.

LUXURY BRAND LEXUS IS COMING TO TURKEY
Luxury brand Lexus couldn’t ignore the rise of the automobile market any longer and decided to come to Turkey. Lexus, which is shown among the most prestigious brands of the world since its production begin in 1989, is going to begin to be sold officially in the last quarter of this year in our country. The operations in Turkey for Lexus, which is on sale in 80 countries in the world, are going to be conducted by Toyota Marketing and Sales Turkey Inc.
IS, NX, GS, RX, LS, and RC models are going to be marketed at Lexus showroom that is going to be open primarily in İstanbul. The price of the new Lexus models, which are in a low tax bracket, is expected to range between 80 to 300 thousand Euros. They are going to be presented to the Turkish market with 2.0lt engine and automatic transmission. At first, the yearly sales target of Lexus is 50, and it has been targeted to increase this number to 1000 in the coming five years.
RENAULT GOES OFF-ROAD WITH KADJAR
The biggest novelty for the French brand Renault this year is going to be Kadjar, which is going to compete in the light off-road vehicles class. Kadjar, which fills the space between Renault’s newest crossover Captur and Koleos, becomes prominent as a C-Crossover vehicle that is going to accelerate the international growth of Renault. Renault Kadjar that comes with 4X2 or 4X4 wheel drive options is going to be presented to the Turkish market and the European markets at the beginning of this summer. The new vehicle is going to be offered with two diesel and a petrol engine options in Turkey. Diesel motor EnergydCi powers 110 hp; EnergydCi 130 hp; and EnergyTCe petrol engine option powers 130 hp.
Kadjar with high level of equipments is going to be offered with automatic transmission option, too.
Competition between the siblings begins
Renault Kadjar, which is going to be in direct competition with the successful model of Renault-Nissan cooperation Nissan Qashqai, shares the same platform with its Japanese sibling. Kadjar is going to be located between Captur and Koleos within the Renault product scale. The strongest competitors of the vehicle in the market, except Nissan Qashqai, are Skoda Yeti and Hyundai ix35-Kia Sportage.
THE FLAGSHIP OF THE CZECH BRAND COUNTS THE DAYS
A new period begins for the brand history with Superb, the completely renovated flagship of Skoda. The largest European market of the vehicle, which is going to attract the shoppers of the higher class, is going to be Turkey. The sales price of Superb is going to begin from 65 thousand TL and the vehicle is going to be presented with a variety of engine options starting from August.
The new Superb creates its own class by carrying the concept of ‘wideness’ to another level. The height of Superb, which has 4861 mm (+28 mm) length and 2841 mm (+80 mm) wheel base, is increased by 6 mm, totaling to 1468 mm, compared to its old version. The new Superb is the widest of its class with 1864 mm (+47 mm) width.
Superb has 980 mm headroom and 157 mm rear passenger legroom. Its sedan version has 625 liters of luggage capacity including spare wheel section. The luggage door is equipped with electronic key system and you can open it just by waving your foot under the rear bumper. Skoda calls this system Virtual Pedal. The system is being used for the first time in Superb.
5 petrol, 3 diesel engines
Superb offers five petrol and three diesel engine options. Here are the petrol engine options that are going to be offered in Turkey: 1.4lt TSI (125 and 150 hp) and also 1.8 TSI (180 and 220 hp) and 2.0 lt TSI (220 and 280 hp.) Diesel engine options are 1.6lt (120 hp,) 2.0 lt (150 and 190 hp.) Their fuel consumption rate is lowered up to 30 per cent compared to its older version.
KIA SORENTO IS TO RECAPTURE SUCCESS
Kia Sorento, the most important player of its class in Turkey, had lost its price advantage when its 2.5lt diesel engine entered in high tax bracket therefore the sales went down. Now completely renewed Sorento returns the market with 2.0lt diesel engine and automatic transmission as of this month.
The new Sorento, four-cylinder 2.0lt 185 hp turbo diesel engine, becomes prominent as an efficient car with its 6.7lt of fuel consumption per 100km. The new Sorento that is equipped with 6-forward automatic transmission is going to be the favorite of the large families with its seating capacity of seven. The price of Kia Sorento that has a high level of equipment is going to be 199.900 TL.
BMW 3 SERIES IS READY FOR THE MODEL YEAR
BMW 3 series, which is placed near the top of the best-sellers list of the premium class in the Turkish market, has been modified. The engine family of 3 Series, which is revised extensively except the front and rear lamp assembly and interior renovations, is developed. Following the modification applied only to sedan and Touring, GT version was left unchanged. Great effort was made to have the vehicle appear sportier and to carry its dynamism, which was already high, to a higher level. In front of the gearshift there is more room now to store your personal belongings as new materials are used in the interior. Cup holders, air inlet grilles, and control panel buttons have new designs. After the modification, except the engine and interior alterations, some new systems are going to be used such as new steering wheel system with higher driving dynamics; four-wheel driving system that increases the sportiveness without decreasing the comfort level. Another important change is that the 1.6lt turbo petrol engine is going to be replaced by a 3-cylinder, 1.5lt 136 hp turbo engine. This new engine is going to be the most significant change in terms of the Turkish market, and it is going to be definitely the most selling one of the 3 Series in Turkey.
