Minister of Transportation, Maritime Affairs, and Communication Lütfi Elvan announced the latest figures regarding the phone and internet subscriptions. According to the information given by the Minister Elvan, the number of the mobile phone service subscribers that was 69 million 797 thousand in January 2014 increased to 71 million 888 thousand at the end of 2014. An increment of over 2 million is experienced in the last one year in the number of mobile phone service subscriptions.
An increment also in 3G usage
Stating the record number of increment that was experienced in the 3G service subscriptions in 2014, the Minister Elvan shared the following information: “The number of 3G service subscribers reached to 58 million 329 thousand as of the end of December, 2014. We see an increment by 20 percent, which is 8.6 million, in the number of 3G service subscriptions. While the number of broadband subscriptions was 33 million 318 thousand at the beginning of 2014, it reached to 41 million 216 thousand as of the end of 2014. The number of mobile internet service subscribers reached to over 31 million from 23 million 285 by 35 percent increase during the mentioned period. Despite the increase in the number of the mobile phone service subscriptions, a decline is experienced in the number of landline service subscriptions. The number of landline service subscriptions that was 13 million 317 thousand as of January 2014 dropped to 12 million 340 thousand as of December 2014.
A help line to fight against drugs is established
The Minister Lütfi Elvan also announced the new service that is established to fight against drugs. A line numbered ‘191’ is established under the name of ‘Fight against Drugs Help Line.’ The line is assigned to the Ministry of Health. The people who would like to get support regarding the issue can call the help line free of charge.
