THE PROTOCOL IS SIGNED FOR THE IRON SILK ROAD’S FREIGHT TARIFF

As Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs, and Communications Ahmet Arslan came together with Minister of Economic and Sustainable Development of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia and President of Azerbaijan Railways Cavit Gurbanov for the test drive of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line, the inauguration of which is expected to be near, also participated in the signing ceremony of the protocol for the “Freight Tariff”.

Following the test drive, the protocol defining the freight tariffs on Baku-Tbilisi-Kars line was signed between Azerbaijan and Turkey by General Director of TCDD Transport Inc. Veysi Kurt and Vice President of Azerbaijan Railways Administration Igbal Hüseynov under the supervision of UDH Minister Arslan.

In the first phase of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars line, which will connect the countries on the line, which is thousands of kilometers long from London to Beijing with uninterrupted rail, the aim is to transport 1 million passengers, 3.5-4 million tons of cargo, and 6.5 million passengers and 15-20 million tons of cargo in the forthcoming days.

General Manager of TCDD Transport Inc. Kurt pointed out that BTK Line is a milestone in railway transportation and said, “Iron Silk Road will open up new horizons in the sector while it provides the fastest and most economical transportation of freight between Asia and Europe that have become the production and energy center of the world.”
