THE STARS IN GENEVA AUTO SHOW 2014

THE HEART OF WORLD AUTO INDUSTRY BEATS AGAIN IN GENEVA AUTO SHOW 2014. OVER 10 THOUSAND JOURNALISTS AND 700 THOUSAND VISITORS ATTENDED IN THE SHOW WHERE MORE THAN 100 NEW CAR MODELS WERE EXHIBITED.

Geneva Auto Show 2014, the first greatest automotive exhibition in Europe in 2014, was first held in 1905. European manufacturers put a firm stamp on this year’s show, one of the greatest organizations in automotive industry with its 102 thousand square meters exhibition area. In the show, as well as green cars, new technologies and large SUVs, small cars were also in the spotlight. More than 100 new models exhibited in the fair, where a specific test path was introduced to be used by green cars, will be seen on the roads in following days.

Here are prominent innovations of Geneva Auto Show 2014…

Turbo-engined Ferrari
One of the most sensational model in the show was Italian sports car manufacturer, Ferrari’s California T. With direct injected 3.855 cc turbocharged and 8-cylinder engine yielding 560 horsepower, the new model reaches to 100km/h in 3.6 seconds. The newly-developed engine attracts Ferrari fans with its sports voice as well as its high power. The automobile has 2+2 seats and opens top in 14 seconds and transforms into a highly smart cabriolet. Only 6 of the new model will be in Turkey and the price of the new model Ferrari is as astonishing as its features: 550 thousand Euros.

Ford exhibited its new design Focus
New Ford Focus, with significant improvements in design and techniques, was firstly exhibited in Geneva. Totally new four body panels, renewed head and taillights and more attractive bumpers are the first remarkable features. As well as these features, when compared to a smaller model, Fiesta, it has a centre grille panel similar to Aston Martin. Besides, 1.5 EcoBoost turbo (150-180 hp) engines will be used in the model.

Volvo’s sports SW
Volvo gives the hints for the appearance of its V70 and XC70 models in the future. In addition to sports and smart lines, touch screen buttons are preferred for inner design instead classical buttons. Inner design of the car is as attractive and modern as its outer appearance.

Both Off-Road and Passenger
Opel’s new small passenger model Adam’s new version Rocks is a different model as it is both a small passenger and a SUV. The new model will also be available with 3-cylinder 1.0 lt ECOTEC (114hp) engine and will have only 6 forward gear option. Being equipped with information and entertainment technologies, the model is expected to be sold at the beginning of summer.

The smallest of Peugeot, 108
Peugeot exhibited its new 108 model that will replace its mini passenger model, 107. In new version, there will be 3 and 5 door options. Peugeot 108 will have 3-cylinder 1.0 lt (68hp) and 1.2 lt (82hp) engines.

Groundbreaking Jeep model
Jeep firstly manufactured a car with 1.6lt engine. Fiat 500 X’s platform sister, Jeep Renegate, will be available in Turkey market in November. Expected to attract people with its smart appearance, Jeep Renegate will have 1.4lt and 1.6lt diesel engines. It is also the first Jeep manufactured in Italy. 1500 units are estimated to be sold in Turkey and its price is as mighty as its engine: 75 thousand TL.

The Pinnacle of Luxury comes from Mercedes
Within the scope of Geneva Auto Show 2014 in which it participated for 84 times, Mercedes-Benz introduced its new C-Series and European publicity of 600 and S 65 AMG models. Firstly exhibited mass produced version of S-Serie Coupe makes Mercedes’s concept model in Frankfurt in 2013 become real. New model will replace CL-Serie model. The car will be in Turkey in June and the price will start from: 850 thousand TL.

Revolutionized Twingo from Renault
Renault’s mini passenger car was renewed with radical changes. It asserts this with its rear-engine, hidden back doors and high equipment. Globally introduced in Geneva Auto Show, Twingo will also have electric versions. With its remarkable small lines that make parking easy, eco engines and smart appearance, the model got great credit.

The most expensive of Geneva
The 4th version of Bugatti Veyron, “Rembrandt Bugatti Legend” was the most expensive model in Geneva Auto Show. 3 of the car, whose price is 2 million Euros in Europe and reaches up to 4 million Euro with taxes in Turkey, were firstly manufactured and sold before the show.

Thunderstorm of the show
Global introduction of Lamborghini’s new model Huracan was taken place in Geneva. Being introduced in special meetings and ordered 700 pieces till now, Huracan seems to repeat the success of Gallardo, the best-selling Lambo model. Huracan LP 610-4, reaches up to 325km/h thanks to its 610 hp, 5.2 lt V10 engine and its 0-100 km/h acceleration is only 3.2 seconds.

A “Cactus” in Geneva
French manufacturer Citroen introduced its concept C4 CACTUS with a pretty different design. New concept design bringing practicability and aesthetics as well as extraordinary outer lines draws attention with its different design. Citroen C4 CACTUS is the beginning of a new kind of car system: more design, more comfort, more practical technology and more competitive price.

First front-wheel drive BWM
German manufacturer BMW exhibited its first front-wheel drive 2015 BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. Though this long waited model’s 5-seats model is available now, 7-seats models will be manufactured soon. In the model that uses the same platform with MINI, a 3-cylinder 1.5lt (134hp) engine will be used.
