We are Building İstanbul’s Backbone for the Rail System

Dear passengers, in accordance with the instructions of our Honorable President, we have been trying to provide Turkey with a more developed infrastructure, which is free of any problems, since we have taken the office. We do not only fully equip our country with new projects, but also establish transportation networks that allow the opportunity for comfortable travels.

From this point forward, we are carrying the transportation infrastructure of İstanbul, which is one of the most important cities that connects two continents, to the future. We are building beltways and we are covering İstanbul with divided roads. We are saying that’s not enough, we’re making intersections, tunnels. We built the world’s largest airport in İstanbul. We also know that the rail system infrastructure in a developed city is of great importance. At this point, we do not only support the Metropolitan Municipality in the construction of the metro infrastructure but also connect all lines under the strait.

Planned to be put into service in March, İstanbul Suburban Line project, which extends from Gebze to Halkalı, is a project of great importance for İstanbul. This line, which combines all rail systems, is the backbone of İstanbul. When this line, which includes Marmaray, is completed, metro lines, YHT lines and freight train lines will be integrated. Now the residents of İstanbul will be able to travel on rails without interruption. In order to achieve this, we built a railroad with 3 lines (2 lines at the strait crossing section) between Gebze-Halkalı. We provided integration to 16 metro and tram lines from 13 stations.

When the suburban line is put into service, it will be 4 minutes between Üsküdar-Sirkeci, 13.5 minutes between Ayrılık Çeşmesi-Kazlıçeşme, 12 minutes between Söğütlüçeşme-Yenikapı, 37 minutes between Bostancı-Bakırköy and 115 minutes between Gebze-Halkalı.
