WE ARE CELEBRATING OUR VICTORY DAY ON AUGUST 30 WITH PRIDE

MAY GOD BLESS THE SOULS OF OUR MARTYRS AND ATATÜRK WHO HAD MADE IT POSSIBLE FOR US TO LIVE AS AN INDEPENDENT NATION AND TO CELEBRATE THE 92ND ANNIVERSARY OF OUR GREAT VICTORY.

Each phase of our National War for Independence is full of patriotic and heroic sagas; this year, we are celebrating the 92nd anniversary of our extraordinary victory that had honored this war on August 30.

Our national war that had become a saga written by bravery, intelligence, and patriotism of Atatürk and his brothers in arms is a victory of heroism against the forces that were many times superior to ours in every way. This victory that had been won by the brave and patriotic Turkish soldiers who had sworn an oath to protect their country and the nation to their last drop of blood had played the biggest part in founding the Republic of Turkey.

First time, the victory was celebrated
The Great Victory that had been won on August 30, 1922 had been celebrated in Ankara, İzmir, Kahramanmaraş, Afyonkarahisar, and Denizli for the first time on August 30, 1923. However, it was declared as our official Victory Day in May 1935.

“Victory belongs to people who can say ‘The victory is mine.’”
A quote by Atatürk on our Victory day says, “Victory belongs to people who can say that ‘The victory is mine.’ Success belongs to people who begins to work saying ‘I will do it,’ and ends it saying ‘I did it.’” Thousands of soldiers who had felt the national unity in their hearts had achieved what many had thought that it was the impossible.

An exemplary victory
This victory, which is a milestone in our history, is also a special one as a celebration of not only the Turkish nation but also all failing nations who are determined to fight for independence and living with honor.

Influenced the world
Mahatma Gandhi, the spiritual and political leader of India and the Freedom Movement of India, had made the following comment on the Great Victory of the Turkish Nation: “The Turkish forces have ended an era. Now, the oppressed and imprisoned states and nations have an indispensable recipe. Mustafa Kemal’s victory is the flag of freedom and independence for the world.”
