We Connected The Mediterranean And The Aegean By Rails

The journey is more than just going from one place to another. The journey is experience, story, and if we take it a little further; journey is a way of life.

As everyone is aware, thanks to our investments in railways in recent years, forgotten, unused, declining railways have become re-usable through modernization.

They gained the trust of our citizens once again. However, the new face and new vision of our railways are the basis of the Eastern Express’s recent popularity. The East Express, which once transported only 20 to 30 thousand passengers a year, accommodated more than 200 thousand passengers three years ago; last year, this number was 437 thousand and this is the result of this excitement. In addition, as our citizens see the beauties of our country and taste the cultural richness, this excitement spreads. This beautiful interest is reflected in our other express tours. Van Lake Express, which was not preferred in previous years, hosted 269 thousand passengers last year.

Therefore, in line with the demands of our citizens, we also take measures for other express trips. In this respect, we have restarted the Göller (Lakes) Express trips, which connects the Mediterranean Sea and the Aegean Sea by rail but was taken off of service 10 years ago due to the lack of use. We renewed the infrastructure and increased the comfort of the Göller Express, which began to operate daily round trips with an average of 8 hours 30 minutes of travel time and 262 passenger capacity. This express will be indispensable for the journeys between the Mediterranean and Aegean. Nobody will be worried that they cannot find bus tickets on their way to İzmir, Denizli, Burdur, Aydın. I hope this exciting service will be useful for those who will benefit from this service in our region.

Have a nice trip…
